Flexible Bundle Handling: Kit vs. Purchase As
By default, ShipStation bundles are imported as Kits, preserving the existing behavior.
A new company setting, toggle “Treat single-product bundles as case packs,” lets you choose how bundles containing a single repeated SKU are handled:
- Toggle OFF – Kit (default): Use when the bundle groups products for sales or fulfillment, but you purchase its components separately.
- Toggle ON – Purchase As: Use when you purchase the bundle as a fixed package from your supplier. For example, ITEM-A-CASE-12 contains 12 units of ITEM-A. The component is configured as purchased through the bundle SKU, and restock and purchase-order recommendations are generated for the bundle (case) SKU.
Bundles containing two or more different SKUs always remain Kits, regardless of this setting. A ShipStation bundle is not automatically a case pack.
How to Change Bundle Handling:
- Open Company Details for your ShipStation company.
- In the ShipStation Bundles section, turn “Treat single-product bundles as case packs” on for Purchase As, or off for Kit.
- Confirm the change in the dialog. Existing eligible bundles are converted immediately, and a message displays how many were changed. No re-sync is required.
- Rerun the forecast and review the updated purchase recommendations to ensure they match how you purchase from your supplier.
The setting applies to each company individually, is off by default, and can be reversed by toggling it back.
